Screened raw melt is collected into melt buffer tank after screening of bagacillo and fines through vibro screens. At the entry of buffer tank the melt is being treated with cationic polymer (Decolorizer) DIFTREAT SDC @, 100 - 150 ppm on melt solid basis. The Decoloriser precipitates out the dissolved coloring impurities. Screened Melt is pumped to direct contact heater where it is heated up to 80°C to 85°C (final temperature= brix of melt + 200C) by using 2ndvapour as a heating media and this heating reduces the viscosity of the liquor and facilitates flotation.
The treated (with cationic polymer) and heated melt goes to the reaction tank where phosphoric acid is being dosed typically @ 250 to 350 pm of P20s on melt solid basis. At the reaction tank the dosing of milk of lime / Lime succrate of 20 Brix is being given to add lime which forms calcium precipitate and adsorbs the suspended impurities. The pH of the liquid @ 7.1 to 7.3 is automatically maintained by VFD control pumping device with help of pH transmitter.
From reaction tank the heated and treated melt is sent to the aeration system where micro sized air bubble gets emulsified with the calcium phosphate precipitate and makes it a lighter precipitate.
A dose of flocculant (DIFFLOC-724) @ around 12 - 16 ppm on melt solids is added in Flocculator before entry into the clarifier.
The clear melt is withdrawn from bottom of the clarifier through telescopic valve and collected into clear melt tank by gravity & pumped to further process stage. The scum is removed also by a rotating scrapper having 0.50 rpm and send to scum desweetening system.
