DIFTECH GROUP: Pioneering Advances in India’s Sugar Industry since 1977
In 1977, against the backdrop of a thriving yet traditional sugar industry in India that was facing a crisis of high prices and falling production, DIFTECH GROUP emerged in Delhi. Initially, DIFTECH focused on trading chemicals from both domestic and international markets, serving the sugar industry’s essential needs i.e. basic chemicals for sugar extraction and clarification. As the sugar industry evolved with advancements in technology and processes, DIFTECH positioned itself at the forefront of this transformation.
Recognizing the potential to enhance sugar production efficiency, the company sought new formulas and chemicals from the USA. By the mid-1980s, DIFTECH had become a vital player in supplying cutting-edge process chemicals to sugar manufacturers across India.
In a ground-breaking move, DIFTECH transitioned from solely trading chemicals to acquiring the knowledge and capabilities to manufacture them within India. This strategic shift marked a turning point, making DIFTECH one of the first companies in India to also produce process chemicals tailored for the sugar industry.
The year 1995 witnessed a significant expansion for DIFTECH as it ventured into various sugar processes, including SCS (Sugar Crystallization System), FCS (Fine Crystallization System), MICS (Micro Crystallization System), and others. This diversification reflected the company’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions to the evolving needs of the sugar sector. Entering the early 2000s, DIFTECH continued to innovate, introducing a range of additional chemicals such as biocides, flocculants, surfactants, decolourisers, enzymes, and filter aids. These products not only improved the quality of sugar but also minimized production losses, solidifying DIFTECH’s position as a trusted partner in the sugar industry.
In 2019, a new chapter unfolded as DIFTECH expanded its capabilities to encompass the establishment of complete clarification refineries. These refineries were designed to maximize the clarity of sugar, removing impurities and imparting a brilliant, harmless white color. To date, DIFTECH has successfully commissioned six full-scale refineries and numerous smaller plants and processes across India.
DIFTECH’s journey is a testament to its pioneering spirit and commitment to driving advancements in the sugar industry. From humble beginnings as a chemical trader to becoming an industry leader in supplying process chemicals and establishing state-of-the-art refineries, DIFTECH has played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of India’s sugar production landscape.
